Why can't I delete a grading scheme

The only active scheme is protected.

The only active scheme cannot be deleted. The gradebook would have no bands to use.

The Grading scheme page in the Academics area, as a school admin sees it: define the grade bands, such as A, B and C, used across report cards.

What to do

Open Academics → Grading scheme.
Add or activate another scheme first.
Select the delete button on the old scheme.
Confirm when asked.
