Marks and exams

What marks and exams in LMS are for, who uses it and the usual order of work.

1 min readLMSFor: School admin, Teacher

Marks and exams cover everything from planning an exam to publishing report cards. School admins schedule exams, assign invigilators, approve marks and release results. Teachers enter the marks for the classes and subjects they teach.

The usual order of work

  • Add the exam and its papers in Exam schedule.
  • Plan the hall in Seating plan and give each paper an invigilator in Exam duties.
  • After the exam, teachers enter marks in Enter marks and submit them for approval.
  • An approver checks them in Approve marks and approves or rejects them.
  • Approved marks are rolled up into each student's result. Release the exam so students and parents can see it.
  • Open Report cards to view or print them.

The pages

  • Enter marks: type marks for one class, subject and exam, then submit.
  • Approve marks: the approval queue, plus releasing an exam to students and parents.
  • Report cards: each student's overall result, grade and rank, with a print link.
  • Charts: marks entered, subject averages, grades and how many results are released.
  • Exam schedule: exams and their papers (subject, date, time, room, maximum marks).
  • Seating plan: lay a class out across an exam hall.
  • Exam duties: choose who invigilates each paper.
  • Reports: downloads of the exam list and the grading scale.
