Roles: who can see what
What each kind of account can open, and how custom roles work.
Every account has a role. The role decides which modules you see in the menu, and which buttons you can press inside them. If you cannot find a page or a button, your role may not include it.
The built-in roles
- Super Admin: the person who runs the Insply platform across schools. Their menu is the Platform module only. They do not work inside a school.
- School Admin: full access inside their school. They run people, classes, attendance, results, fees, admissions, notices, library, transport, Hifz and Setup. Only admins can use Setup.
- Teacher: Home, a Teaching area for their own classes, attendance, homework and marks, and Hifz if the school uses it. Teachers see their own students and classes.
- Parent: Home and a My child area with their children's attendance, homework, results, fees and notices. Hifz progress shows if the school uses Hifz.
- Student: Home and a My study area with their own timetable, homework, results and notices. My Hifz shows if the school uses Hifz.
Custom roles
- A school admin can add a role under Setup → Roles & access, for example Accountant, and tick the permissions it should have.
- A custom role starts with nothing and gets only what is ticked, so it is safe by default.
- Assign a role to a person under Setup → Users & logins, using the role button on their row.
- The role's name shows under a person's name in the user menu.
- A role cannot be deleted while people still have it. System roles are marked System and some are Locked.
