Find anything with Ctrl+K

Jump to any page or start a task from one search box.

1 min readThe Search anything box in the top bar

The search box opens from anywhere in Insply. Type a few letters of what you want, for example fees, attendance or timetable, and pick the result.

Use it

  1. Press Ctrl+K (on a Mac, Command+K) to open it. You can also press / when you are not typing in a field, or press Search anything in the top bar. On a phone, use the magnifier icon.
  2. Start typing. Results update as you type.
  3. Use the up and down arrow keys to move, then press Enter to open the highlighted result. You can also click a result.
  4. Press Esc to close it.

What it finds

  • Quick actions: everyday jobs such as collecting a fee, marked with a lightning icon.
  • Pages: every page you are allowed to open, with the module it lives in shown on the right.
  • Extra words: pages are found by the words people use, so typing who owes finds the unpaid fees page.
  • For school admins only: students, teachers and parents by name, and records such as fee bills, applicants, books, classes, exams, notices and events. Type at least 2 letters.
