Reactions and comments on posts

React to a notice or class update, write a comment, reply, and choose whether reactions and comments are on.

Every published notice, news item and class update has a bar underneath it. You can only react to or comment on posts you are allowed to see: a class update is open to that class's teachers, students and parents only.

React and comment

  1. Press the smiley button under a post and pick an emoji: thumbs up, heart, party, clap, thanks, laugh, wow or sad. You get one reaction per post. Pick a different emoji to change it, or press your own again to remove it. The emojis people used show next to the button with a count. Students and parents see the total (for example 3 reactions). Admins and teachers can press it to see who reacted with what, and filter the list by emoji.
  2. Press Comment to open the conversation. Write your message and press Post. Press Ctrl or Cmd with Enter to send faster.
  3. Press Reply under a comment to answer it. Replies sit directly under the comment they answer.
  4. Press Delete under your own comment to remove it. Its replies are removed with it.

For admins and class teachers

  • Delete any comment on a post you manage.
  • When you add or edit a post, notice, circular, homework or material, tick or untick Allow reactions and Allow comments. Switch one off and it disappears for everyone who reads the item: no reaction button when reactions are off, no comment button or conversation when comments are off. The existing ones stay saved.
  • On an item where one is switched off you still see a quiet Turn on link under it, so you can bring it back without editing.
  • Press Turn off comments at the bottom of a conversation to hide comments on that item. Press Turn on to open them again.
